Curricula Subscription Program ...
With the Project Connect Curricula Subscription program, larger
nonprofits can bring software training in-house. This is also a practical way for
nonprofit technology initiatives to jump-start their new training programs or expand their existing
course offerings.
There are over 30 courses, ranging from Introduction to Computers to the Database
Developers Series. Designed to be taught in 3-4 hours, each course covers specific tasks
relevant to the everyday responsibilities of non-profit staff. (Click here to view the course
list, topics covered, and sample pages.)
These curricula have been tested and proven effective by over 1,500 class attendees.
They are continuously revised and improved to meet the changing needs of non-profit staff.
The courses are offered via a tiered subscription program:
- Nonprofit organizations which do not charge
for their classes can subscribe to each course for $50 per year.
- Nonprofit organizations which do charge for
their classes can subscribe to each course for $200 per year.
- For-profit organizations which do charge for their classes can subscribe to each
course for $500 per year.
In addition to unlimited use to the curricula during
the subscription period, trainers will have access to a support network to assist in teaching strategies as well as software techniques. They
will also be able to call the technical support hotline during its hours of operation when
there is a question about that software. At the end of the year, the curricula
subscription can be renewed for another year.
To subscribe, complete the
Curricula
Subscription Agreement and send it to Info Line, Inc., 474 Grant St, Akron OH

Database Developers
Series
Non-profits thrive on databases ... funding and services depend on the staff'' ability
to obtain information about clients, donors, volunteers, etc. Microsoft Access is
relatively easy to learn compared to other database applications, but it does take a lot
of time and commitment. After this set of courses, you will be able to set up and use
practical databases for your organization. Due to the nature of the curricula, the
Database Developers Series (Access 1-5), cannot be purchased separately; they must be
purchased as a unit (5 courses for a total of $250)
Microsoft Access 1: Database Planning & Set-Up
This first session will focus on identifying what needs to be included in a
nonprofit-related database and how to structure it so that the database will be easy to
use and easy to retrieve useful information. Attendees will plan the database they need
for their own organization. We will begin developing the tables on which the entire
database will depend. Prerequisite: Skills covered in Microsoft Excel 2.

Microsoft Access 2: Database Tables & Relationships
In the second session, we will continue to set up the database planned in the

also do quick searches, filters, and sorts. We will also begin to write simple queries.
Prerequisite: Skills covered in Microsoft Access 1 and completion of homework.

data from one or more tables using criteria you specify. Forms can be created to
"pretty up" your data, make data entry easier, and combine data from different
tables and queries. We will also integrate the data into Microsoft Word and Excel for file
exchange and publication. Prerequisite: Skills covered in Microsoft Access 2 and
completion of homework.

Website Developers
Series

organizations.
Website Development & Management

theory. We will explore the options of website development, paying special attention to
the differences between designing for paper vs. designing for the web. When you complete
this course, you will have a good plan for your new or updated website. Then you can
create it yourself or give your plan to your computer specialist.
